We were delighted to come back after the Christmas break to a letter from Justine Greening, the Secretary of State for Education, recognising the outstanding efforts made by Mrs Sheila Claridge during her distinguished career in teaching.

Mrs Greening acknowledged in her letter Mrs Claridge’s dedication to the important role of teaching, and recognised her commitment to helping children attain in maths. She commented in particular on Mrs Claridge’s additional efforts with our Maths Counts programme, and thanked her for the work she has done throughout her teaching career to improve the life chances of children both within and outside The Mead Academy Trust.

We are particularly proud of the glowing recognition from the Secretary of State, given the extremely small number of letters sent each year.

Mrs Claridge ended her fabulous career at Christmas, in order to spend more time with her family and growing grandchildren. She will, of course, be greatly missed by staff and pupils alike at all of our schools.
