We are delighted that a project championed in our schools, Polli:Nation, has been awarded the prestigious “Best Environment Project” in the 2018 National Lottery Good Causes awards. Learning Through Landscapes, the Hampshire-based charity that runs Polli:Nation, was up against 700 entrants in their category, and beat six other finalists to win the prize, which will fund a legacy project for Polli:Nation.

Polli:Nation supports pupils from 260 schools to transform their school grounds and other local walk-to spaces into pollinator-friendly habitats. All schools within The Mead Academy Trust have participated in Polli:Nation, through weekly gardening clubs held after school.

Mel Jacob, Chair of Governors at The Mead School who also runs gardening club at the school, said ‘This award is a huge boost for the Polli:Nation project, and we are incredibly proud to have been a part of such a wonderful initiative.’
